Currently, my favorite airplane is a Mega Motor's Freedom, powered
by a Mega 22/20/2 with a 5:1 gearbox (airplane, motor and gearbox no longer available).
This is the airplane that finally
convinced me electric flight had come of age. It is a .40 sized bird and
will fly straight up for as long as I can see. After this airplane, I really
don't see a reason to go back to a slimer.
For indoor flying, I haven't found anything better than a Dumas Kestral with the GWS IPS-A gearbox. I have mounted a little Fieago brushless motor in the gearbox. And, I have switched to lithium polymer batteries rather than original he NiMH batteries. Now the Kestral flies forever at 1/2 throttle.
My second favorite indoor plane is a mini IFO. The thing is a blast to fly, but a little too fast for me if the space is tight.
