My Personal Soap Box; Trump

I've underestimated the damage Trump could accomplish twice. Before he was elected to the Presidency, I was terrified of his rehtoric. I was most concerned with his flippant statements about nuclear weapons. During his first term, I was horrified by how he referred to the leaders of nuclear-capable countries. Rocket Man. Really?

Additionally, I became increasingly concerned with his authoritarian bent. Complaining about congress not doing everything he asked. Railing against the Federal Reserve's refusal to lower interest rates to zero. Those are two of many more.

I was incredibly relieved that he was defeated for his second term. I wasn't pleased that he lost to another "Old White Guy". In my opinion, Biden was not capable of defeating Trump. However, the other candidates who participated in the Democratic primary were not "Old White Guys". It seems this country is incapable of considering any President that is not an "Old White Guy".

I donated to the Biden/Harris campaign, even though I really didn't think Biden would do well in a second term. I hoped that his team of advisers would carry him through four more years. I argued that he/they would be an incredibly choice than the alternative. I have a nagging feeling that I didn't do enough to defeat Trump.

I was absolutely horrified when Trump was elected to another term as President of the United States of America. I still cannot comprehend that the electorate could believe that he would fix all of the problems facing this nation. I knew we were in for a rough four years.

As the unbelievable number of executive orders were signed, I knew he was striving to become a dictator in his first hundred days in office. Many of these executive orders seem to be bypassing Congress. These executive orders are being challenged in court due to their questionable consitutionality. Even the conservative super majority Supreme Court has ruled against him in some instances.

With the unlawful, mistaken deportation of an individual and the resultant legal battle, Trump's administration seems to be ignoring the Supreme Court. At the time of me writing this, a judge is considering holding the Trump administration in contempt of court. I'm not sure anyone knows how that can play out. How does any court hold an administration in contempt and how will any sentences be enforced. The Supreme Court has already protected Trump, himself, from any accountability. I believe we are in a Constitutional Crises.

Then the retributions started. Pulling security details and revoking security clearances for those who had either been against him, or he percieved had been against him. While these seem to be legal, they do give a little more insight as to who our President is.

Then there is DOGE and co-President Musk. I am in awe of how destructive Musk and he team of moronic technical marvels have been. It will be decades before this government will recover effecacy. DOGE has demonstrated a lack of understanding about what various agencies actually do. Firing NNSA personel only to be told that they oversee the nuclear stocpile and DOGE rehiring those that hadn't found jobs elsewhere. Efficiency my ass.

Reports are surfacing that data was transferred from agency computers to unknown destinations and the logs were deleted. Agencies that were investigating some of Musk's company's. No proof yet (the logs are gone), but it doesn't look good. There is a recent report that a StarLink system was found on the roof of the GSA. I doubt that StarLink will share any logs of that systems activity.

I'll turn my attention to foreign policy. Trump has managed to threaten two NATO alies with acquiring their land: Denmark(Greenland) and Canada(51st State). Trump has not ruled out the use of our military to acquire Greenland and Panama. Military action against Denmark would, automatically remove the United States from NATO and force armed conflict with all other members of NATO. What the hell? Remember, all members of NATO know details of how our military operates.

International trade has shown that Trump's deal making involves being a bully. Threaten and back off if he gets what he wants. The tariff-driven trade war that Trump has started with every country, including uninhabited islands, has led to economic uncertanty unimaginble a few months ago. Trump seems to have met a superior force in China. Their leaders understand trade much better than Trump(and his advisors). China has the capability of bringing United States industry to its knees by cutting off supplies of minerals, chemicals, items and parts. It will take years to build factories in the United States and we do not have access to the supplies we need to feed those factories. Finding alternat sources will be interesting because other countries no longer trust the United States. Trump has isolated us and it will not end well while Trump has control of the United States government.

It is my opinion that Trumps actions have too many parallel with Hitler's actions. I firmly believe that Trump is attempting to convert the United States to a facist regime. I am distressed that the United States will no longer be a democracy on the 250th anniversary to its founding.
